Adult Curriculum


Mixed Martial Arts (MMA):

 

MMA is the staple and trademark of our organization. It is a combat sport that combines a broad mixture of fighting techniques from different martial arts disciplines. The Premier Combat Center offers the most complete staff of MMA coaches found anywhere in the Omaha metropolitan area. The Center will offer both evening and day classes in MMA instruction.


The evening MMA class is for those interested in the sport who have had prior training and understand the basics of stand up fighting, takedowns and ground fighting and/or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Participants will engage in both drills and sparring techniques to get themselves into the best shape of their lives.

 

The day MMA class is a hybrid class designed for the beginner to the pro for those who can’t make it to the evening classes. It begins with basic techniques at 11:00 each weekday and evolves into more advanced techniques and extreme conditioning drills to prepare each participant for combat. At noon the class goes into further more heavy sparring drills for those with advanced skill levels while beginners are welcome to stay for open gym to work on techniques learned at the beginning of class.


Required equipment: mouthpiece, boxing gloves, MMA gloves and shin pads

Recommended equipment: groin protection, hand wraps, knee pads and head gear.

Kickboxing:


To develop an athlete’s standup techniques former International Pro Cruiser weight Champion of the world Kurt Podany brings nearly three decades of experience to the Premier Combat Centers clientele. He will be the head coach and trainer of their amateur and professional kickboxing and mauy thia team. Events will be offered regularly at their facility. The center will offer both classes for the beginner and the advanced students.
The Basic class is for the person who has had no prior boxing, kickboxing or standup martial arts training. It is a great class for someone who wants to learn a useful tool in self defense while getting into great shape. This class will involve pad hitting and kicking, calisthenics, plyometrics, and other drills without the sparring.

 

Advanced kickboxing class is for those who have experience or progressed into a solid understanding of how to defend oneself while standing up. It will teach you advanced footwork of not only how to throw a strike, but also land it. You will learn how to create angles to take your opponent out of his or her game. The class will evolve live sparring and extreme conditioning to prepare its athletes for realistic self-defense and/or competition.

 

Required equipment: mouthpiece, boxing gloves, and shin pads

Recommended equipment: groin protection, hand wraps, knee pads and head gear.

 

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

 

Premier Combat Center is proud to be affiliated with Rodrigo Vaghi a 4th degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and official representative of Rickson Gracie. Four stripe purple belt Scott Morton is the 2008 Pan-American gold medallist and head coach of the centers jiu-jitsu team. Like kickboxing event the center will also hold regular grappling events as well. The center offers both beginning and advanced classes.
The beginners’ class is for those who have no prior jiu-jitsu experience and want to learn a useful form of self defense while getting into great shape. The student will learn arm bars, choke holds and other basic techniques and drills which allow oneself to control or submit his or her attacker or opponent while on the ground.

 

The advanced class is for those with ground fighting experience who are ready to start transitioning from two, three or four techniques in a row so they can stay one step ahead of their attacker or opponent. This class will have live sparring to prepare students for competition or realistic self-defense situations.

Recommended equipment: martial arts Gi, groin protection


Wrestling:


The art of taking your opponent to the ground and controlling them is an important part of MMA competition. Two time NCAA All-American wrestler Joe Ellenberger heads up our staff of experienced grapplers and with UFC veteran Jason Brilz former a UNO assistant wrestling coach to NCAA National Championship team heads up the centers wrestling coaches who are second to none. Seasonal camps and events will be offered regularly at the center.


FIT Class:

 

Functional Interval Training (FIT) is a sport-specific intensive training program that mimics how professionals prepare for competition. It can be utilized as a fitness program that will allow you to meet your fitness goals, while getting into the best shape of your life. The FIT program consists of calisthenics, circuit-training, cardio, plyometrics, etc. that professionals employ before competition.


Equipment: Shorts and shirt.

 

Women’s Kickboxing:

 

The Women’s Kickboxing class offers a fun and useful program, designed for improved fitness, as well as the instruction of basic Kickboxing principles. You will learn how to effectively punch, kick, knee, and elbow, as well as the proper footwork to create angles to effectively land strikes while fending off an attacker. You will also learn the proper way to hold pads for another classmate, in order to work as a team. This is a great class for females looking for a new and exciting way to get into shape and defend themselves effectively in the unfortunate event of an attack.

 

Equipment: 16 ounce boxing gloves, shin pads, mouth piece

Recommended equipment: groin protection, mouthpiece, knee pads and hand wraps

 

Kids Martial Arts

 

The Premier Combat Center will offer a kids program for children between the ages of 6-14. In this class your child will learn more than martial arts. The youth are taught discipline, self respect, and team work. They will learn when it is appropriate to use force, and most importantly when not to use it. They will develop not only athletic skills, but more importantly they will develop life building skills as well.
